About me

Hi. I’m Wendy. I love science, history, and long walks in the woods. Actually, I prefer slow walks in the woods. They’re best when they lead to lakes or waterfalls or tiny trickling creeks. The smell of pine trees and the natural sounds of chatty squirrels and rustling leaves stir my blood.

As for the history, I tend to fall down rabbit holes and am fascinated by whatever I find there. Lately, that’s been Renaissance Italy. Most often, it’s the American west.

Science makes the world go round. I spend hours outside star gazing. I’ve seen the Northern Lights, a couple comets, shooting stars galore. Sometimes, I hunt for satellites. Once I made myself a little telescope and found the Andromeda Galaxy.

My family is a husband, grown daughter, grandbaby, and a dog. Plus, the magpies, Pinon jays, hummingbirds, ground squirrels and deer who hang out near by.

By training, I’m a Park Interpreter, helping visitors see and understand the natural landscapes. I’ve worked in parks and museums in four different states. The best part is learning new things all the time. And then the visitors and I get to say “Wow! That’s awesome!” together.

All my varied interests add up to my other career – writer. I’ve written multiple books, articles, blog posts and even programs, brochures and newsletters. And when words fail, I always love a good photo.
